The Twin Cities Zinefest is officially full! We may be able to squeeze you in, but please write Sarah at zines@stevensarts.org to be placed on a waiting list.

The posters have been printed! Exhibitors can pick up posters during gallery hours at SSCA during the Zines of the Cities show which will run Thursday-Sunday 1-5 pm from June 28th-July 13th. Zines of the Cities will feature special extended gallery hours to allow the public more time to sit down with and read the featured zines like Art Police, Bump, Little Free Press, Hooray for the Devil! and Baby Split Bowling News. The gallery will also be open on July 3rd and 4th.

The posters were screen printed in Minneapolis by Synthetic Sunshine and Will Dinski. They feature an ENTIRE ZINE! An issue of Little Free Press was reformatted for use on the poster, it touts the potential for a free, moneyless society. Coincidentally, admission to Zinefest is also free.

Some major changes have been made to the Saturday night after-fest party and concert. It is now a mostly top-secret event for Zinefest tablers and attendees only, as details of the after-fest party will only be announced to those present on the first day of Zinefest and not before. We’re no longer in charge of that event or its musical lineup, but we have forwarded every band’s inquiry email to the proper party planning authorities. So far, preference has been given to bands that also make zines.

The Twin Cities Zinefest is half-booked! If you haven’t registered your table yet, please do so soonish.

We will no longer hold regular bi-weekly meetings since they have been difficult to schedule. If you’d like to help by volunteering in any way, please (contact us directly) for your assignment.

The Twin Cities Zinefest has just been registered on the (Midwest Zine Collective’s website). It’s a gorgeous site with plenty of good information, so be sure to check it out. The first-ever Milwaukee Zine Fest is just one week after the Twin Cities Zinefest and it’s three days long! Stop by all the Midwest fests if you’re able.

Zinefest moves on! Until May 31st, we’ll be looking for bands that are interested in playing for our Zine Celebration & Swap Meet at the Belfry on July 12th. Our first call for musicians was met with such a great response that unfortunately now we have to be picky. It’s lucky for some, though, who haven’t yet risen to the call. Your band still has the chance to rock the mismatched socks off the Twin Cities’ finest self-published authors and artists.

For consideration, please email us at zines@stevensarts.org with your band’s name and a link to a website with samples of your music. It would also be helpful to note if your band is at all connected with zines or would be interested in volunteering to help out Zinefest.

Not to mention, we’ve still got tables to fill! Reserve your space conveniently through our online application.

Our next meeting held at Stevens Square Center for the Arts will be March 30th at Noon. Everyone is welcome to attend and contribute their ideas!
